Privacy Policy for ScrapTrack

Last updated: August 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how ScrapTrack ("the App," "we," "us") handles information when you use the App. ScrapTrack is designed for junk shops, scrap yards, and recycling buyers to record buy and sell transactions.

The short version: ScrapTrack does not have a server, does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not send your business data anywhere. Everything you enter — materials, prices, transactions, staff, suppliers, and cash records — is stored only in a local database on your device.

1. Information Stored in the App

ScrapTrack stores the following information locally on your device, entered directly by you or your staff:

  • Business data: material names and prices, buy and sell transaction records, supplier names and contact numbers, and cash drawer reconciliation records.
  • Staff account data: staff names and a securely hashed PIN code (the actual PIN is never stored — only a one-way cryptographic hash used to verify login attempts).
  • Seller identification (where applicable): if your shop's process requires recording a seller's government ID type and number for a transaction (a common anti-fencing / legal compliance practice for scrap purchases), that information is stored locally in the same on-device database.

This information is stored in a local SQLite database on your device and is excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup (Auto Backup), specifically because it includes seller ID numbers and PIN hashes. This data does not leave your device through that channel.

2. Data You Choose to Export

ScrapTrack lets you voluntarily export your own data:

  • CSV / PDF export: you can export transaction reports for a date range you choose. You control where this file is saved (e.g., your device's Downloads folder, Google Drive, or another location you pick) using Android's standard file picker. ScrapTrack does not upload this file anywhere itself.
  • Full database backup (ScrapTrack Pro): you can create a complete backup of your ScrapTrack data, protected with a password you set. The backup file is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before it is saved, and again, you choose where it is saved. ScrapTrack does not transmit this file to us or to any third party.

Because you choose the destination for these exports, please be mindful of where you save them — for example, a shared or public cloud folder would be visible to anyone with access to that folder.

3. Purchases and Google Play Billing

ScrapTrack offers an optional "Pro" upgrade (monthly subscription, yearly subscription, or one-time lifetime purchase) that removes certain free-tier limits and unlocks additional export options and backup/restore.

All purchases are processed entirely through Google Play Billing. ScrapTrack does not collect, see, or store your payment information (card numbers, billing address, etc.) — that is handled directly between you and Google Play, governed by Google's Privacy Policy. ScrapTrack only receives confirmation of whether a purchase is active, in order to unlock Pro features.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

ScrapTrack does not:

  • Use any analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs
  • Display advertising or share data with ad networks
  • Require an internet connection to record transactions
  • Request access to your camera, location, contacts, or microphone
  • Operate any server that receives, stores, or processes your business data

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are always in control of it:

  • You can deactivate individual materials, staff accounts, or suppliers from within the App.
  • You can delete all App data at any time via Android's Settings → Apps → ScrapTrack → Storage → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the App.
  • If you have created an encrypted backup file, that file exists independently of the App and will remain wherever you saved it until you delete it yourself.

6. Data Sharing

ScrapTrack does not sell, rent, or share your business data with third parties. The only external party involved in any part of the App's operation is Google Play Billing, described in Section 3 above, which is limited to processing optional purchases.

7. Children's Privacy

ScrapTrack is a business tool intended for shop owners and staff and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Your Rights

Since ScrapTrack stores data locally on your own device rather than on a server we control, you retain full, direct control over that data at all times — including the ability to view, export, and delete it as described above. If you have questions about how a specific type of information (such as seller ID numbers) is handled by your own business under applicable local law, we recommend consulting your local data protection regulations, as ScrapTrack is a tool used within your business's own data handling process.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
